Hi! I’m Niamh, a Baltimore-born writer and artist, living on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. I specialize in drawing realistic pet portraits, wildlife art, and word portraits by hand, aiming to capture the poetry of faces in pencil. All animals welcome!
I started Scribe Dog Studio to honor the gifts that dogs have brought into my life. And I continue this heart-work as a way to give back creatively through art. A practice of joyful purpose.

Whether your pet has fur, feathers, or scales, my intention with each hand-drawn pet portrait is to achieve a likeness that is both realistic and expressive, and makes you smile. Custom art for the love of pets and the people who love them.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what about a picture drawn with only words, minute words written myriad times over until a face emerges? Pencil portraits of authors, artists, and inspiring figures—scribed entirely out of their own words.
Wildlife Art
Coming face to face with threatened species can kindle empathy and action. Intimate portraits, my wildlife drawings explore issues of endangerment and extinction in an age of disappearance, highlighting the urgency for conservation.
My Ode to Dogs
Scribe Dog Studio is a one-woman operation—born out of my abiding love for animals, and bolstered by the steadfast presence of Nina, my Cane Corso canine companion. The day this poet drew her rescue pup with a #2 pencil brought scribe and dog together here. She is my why.
